Municipal Elections 2018

Candidates Packages will be available at the Municipal Office May 1st.

2018 is a municipal election year. Elections will be held for 4 Councillor seats and 1 Reeve seat. Nominations open on May 1st and nomination papers must be filed by 2:00 pm on July 27th. Nomination Papers will be available at the Municipal Office starting May 1st, 2018. Election Day is October 22nd and an advance poll will be held, stay tuned for further details on the advanced poll.    

Council serves a 4 year term, beginning December 3rd, 2018 with meetings being held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. There are also appointment to various Boards and Agencies, as well as conferences. To be eligible to serve on Council you must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older and be an eligible voter in Gillies Township (property owner, spouse of property owner, or a renter or a spouse of a renter within the Township).    

Full information and a candidate guide will be provided with the Nomination Papers. There will also be an opportunity after the election to attend Councillor training. Information for Voters

Information for voters  To vote in a municipal council or school board election, you need to be on the voters' list as an elector.   Find out if you're on the list to vote for municipal council and school board elections at  You can add yourself, change personal information, change your school support for electoral purposes and add other electors under your address.  You are required to show identification to vote. If your name is on the voters’ list, you will be required to show one piece of identification that has your name and address. Your photo or signature is not required.
